World Environment Day - Relationship with nature & 5 things you can do for Ecosystem Restoration
by Team DaisyLife
"We are a part of nature not apart from her". Our human–nature relationship goes beyond the extent to which an individual believes or feels they are part of nature. It can also be understood as, and inclusive of, our adaptive synergy with nature as well as our longstanding actions and experiences that connect us to nature. Like our little quirks that seem to show up only when we're surrounded by nature.
We are part of nature, embedded in a beautiful and wondrous living world. We keep up hope that a change toward an eco-friendly perspective, and lifestyle, is a vital way toward the prospering of life on Earth, working our way slowly towards a sustainable future.
Research shows that people with a greater connection to nature are more likely to behave positively towards the environment, wildlife and habitats. Developing an enduring relationship between people and nature, connecting people, may be critical for future nature conservation.
5 Things to do for ecosystem restoration.
This World environment day the theme is "Ecosystem Restoration" so we've put together a list of 5 things you can do to help preserve and restore the environment to a much better state.
1. Watering the plant life around us
We often tend to notice a lot of trees and small bushes in our surroundings. If you see some smaller saplings or plants that are uncared for this summer or due to the COVID restrictions, water them once a day.
2. Manage your own garden
We love exotic plants they have a certain aura that is pleasing to the eye and mind. However, each plant requires a certain environment and belong to a particular region which provides a suitable condition for them to thrive. Growing local plants are in fact most ideal for us as they have lower tendencies of withering away, support the local birds and bees and help build an effective ecosystem.
3. Managing waste disposal
Even small acts like segregating the dry and wet waste and disposing of them carefully is key to restoration, While dumping is the most used method of treating waste segregation helps us put as waste that can be further treated as materials that can be recycled and reused.
Avoiding discarding of waste in local surroundings carelessly don't contribute to the dump and pollute the land instead always discard waste in the local trash cans. Make an at-home compost, try treating the waste for plants as fertilizers with a compost read more in our blog.
4. Choose sustainable materials
Making conscious choices are key to sustainable living. What we choose to use makes a huge impact on the environment. The irresponsible and careless choices of plastic materials not only pollute the land but also harm various forms of life endangering the ecosystem. Choose consciously next time you consume. If there is a sustainable option why not? Try switching to natural material products, they are planet friendly, easy to use and do not pose a threat to the ecosystem.
5. Give back to nature
Just as we've taken away from nature it's time to give back, small activities like planting trees, volunteering for save the environment drives in the city. Responding in a way that contributes to nature by being kind to nature. Giving back is also part of conserving it is how we can strive to achieve balance rather than drive towards scarcity.
